June 24, 2024 / Plesk

This article explains how to set which website opens when users visit your server by IP address.

Follow the steps-

  1. Log in to Plesk.
  2. Navigate to IP Addresses:
    1. Go to “Tools & Settings.”
      Tools and Settings
    2. Click on “IP addresses.”
  3. Set Default Site:
    1. Click the IP address assigned to the website.
    2. Select the desired website from the “Default site” dropdown list.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Note:
      1. If “Default site” is set to None, the default server page will show.
      2. On Windows, the site will only be accessible via HTTP, not HTTPS.
  4. Command Line Method (Plesk Onyx):
    1. Connect to the server via SSH or RDP.
    2. Run the command:
      plesk bin subscription_settings –set-default example.com

In this way, you can access a domain by IP address.

To improve security with Plesk is to limit the administrator’s access to a certain IP address. This reduces the risk of unauthorised access by ensuring that only authorised IPs can administer your Plesk environment. By following these practices, you can enhance system integrity overall while also protecting your Plesk server.
